TestingtheSafetyInterlock
System
CAUTION
Ifthesafetyinterlockswitchesaredisconnectedor
damaged,themachinecouldoperateunexpectedly,
causingpersonalinjury.
•Donottamperwiththeinterlockswitches.
•Checktheoperationoftheinterlockswitches
dailyandreplaceanydamagedswitchesbefore
operatingthemachine.
Testthesafetyinterlocksystembeforeyouusethemachine
eachtime.Ifthesafetyinterlocksystemdoesnotoperateas
describedbelow,haveanAuthorizedServiceDealerrepair
thesafetyinterlocksystemimmediately.Donotoperatethe
machineuntilithasbeenrepaired.Whilesittingintheseat,
performthefollowingchecks:
1.Settheparkingbrake,shiftthebladecontrol(PTO)
knobtotheEngageposition,andturntheignitionkey
toStart:Theengineshouldnotcrank.
2.Shiftthebladecontrol(PTO)knobtotheDisengage
position,releasetheparkingbrake,andturntheignition
keytoStart:Theengineshouldnotcrank.
3.Putthetractionpedalintheneutralposition,setthe
parkingbrake,shiftthebladecontrol(PTO)knobto
Disengage,andstarttheengine.Whiletheengineis
running,releasetheparkingbrakeandriseslightlyfrom
theseat:Thebladesshouldstop.
4.Withtheparkingbrakeset,shiftthebladecontrol
(PTO)knobintotheDisengageposition,putthe
tractioncontrolpedalintheNeutralposition,andstart
theengine.Whiletheengineisrunning,shifttheblade
control(PTO)knobintotheEngagepositionandput
thetractioncontrolpedalintheReverseposition:The
engineshouldstop.
5.Withtheparkingbrakeset,shiftthebladecontrol
(PTO)knobintotheDisengagepositionandputthe
tractioncontrolpedalintheNeutralposition.Start
theengine,shiftthebladecontrol(PTO)knobinto
theEngageposition,andturntheKeyChoicekey
andreleaseit:Theoperating-in-reversewarninglight
shouldilluminate.
6.Shiftthebladecontrol(PTO)knobtotheDisengage
position:Theoperating-in-reversewarninglightshould
turnoff.
PushingtheMachineManually
Important:Alwayspushthemachinemanually.Never
towthemachinebecauseitmaydamagethetransaxle.
ToPushtheMachine
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface.
2.Disengagetheblades(PTO).
3.Settheparkingbrake.
4.Stoptheengineandwaitforallmovingpartstostop.
5.Removetheignitionkey.
6.Removethegrasscollector;refertoRemovingthe
GrassCollector.
7.Pushthedrivecontrol(locatedattherearofthe
machine),intothePushposition.
8.Releasetheparkingbrake.
Note:Thisdisengagesthedrivesystemandallowsthe
wheelstoturnfreely(Figure13).
