1.Draintheoilfromtheengine;refertoChangingthe
EngineOil.
2.Removetheoldlterandwipeofftheadaptergasket
surface(Figure26).

4.Installthenewltertothelteradapterbyturningit
clockwiseuntilthegasketcontactsthelteradapter.
5.Tightenthelteranadditional1/2to3/4turn(Figure
26).
6.Fillthecrankcasewiththepropertypeofnewengine
oil;refertoCheckingtheEngineOilLevel.
ServicingtheSparkPlug
ServiceInterval:Every25hours—Checkthesparkplug.
Every100hours—Replacethesparkplug.
UseaChampionRC12YCorequivalentsparkplug.
Ensurethattheairgapbetweenthecenterandsideelectrodes
is0.030inch(0.76mm)beforeinstallingthesparkplug.Use
asparkplugwrenchforremovingandinstallingthespark
plugandagappingtoolorfeelergaugetocheckandadjust
theairgap.
RemovingtheSparkPlug
1.Disengagetheblades(PTO).
2.Settheparkingbrake.
3.Stoptheengineandwaitforallmovingpartstostop.
4.Removetheignitionkey.
5.Openthehood.
6.Disconnectthewirefromthesparkplug(Figure27).

CheckingtheSparkPlug
1.Lookatthecenterofthesparkplug(Figure28).Ifyou
seelightbrownorgrayontheinsulator,theengineis
operatingproperly.Ablackcoatingontheinsulator
usuallymeansthattheaircleanerisdirty.
