TestingtheSafetyInterlock
System
CAUTION
Ifthesafetyinterlockswitchesaredisconnectedor
damaged,themachinecouldoperateunexpectedly,
causingpersonalinjury.
•Donottamperwiththeinterlockswitches.
•Checktheoperationoftheinterlockswitches
dailyandreplaceanydamagedswitchesbefore
operatingthemachine.
Testthesafetyinterlocksystembeforeyouusethemachine
eachtime.Ifthesafetyinterlocksystemdoesnotoperateas
describedbelow,haveanAuthorizedServiceDealerrepair
thesafetyinterlocksystemimmediately.Donotoperatethe
machineuntilithasbeenrepaired.Whilesittingintheseat,
performthefollowingchecks:
1.Putthetractionpedalsintheneutralposition,setthe
parkingbrake,shiftthebladecontrol(PTO)knobto
theEngageposition,andturntheignitionkeytoStart:
Theengineshouldnotcrank.
2.Shiftthebladecontrol(PTO)knobtotheDisengage
position,releasetheparkingbrake,andturntheignition
keytoStart:Theengineshouldnotcrank.
3.Putthetractionpedalsintheneutralposition,setthe
parkingbrake,shiftthebladecontrol(PTO)knobto
Disengage,andstarttheengine.Whiletheengineis
running,releasetheparkingbrakeandriseslightlyfrom
theseat:Theengineshouldstop.
4.Putthetractionpedalsintheneutralposition,shiftthe
bladecontrol(PTO)knobintotheDisengageposition,
putthetractioncontrolpedalinNeutral,andstartthe
engine.Whiletheengineisrunning,shifttheblade
control(PTO)knobintotheEngagepositionand
putthetractioncontrolpedalinReverse:Theengine
shouldstop.
5.Putthetractionpedalsintheneutralposition,shift
thebladecontrol(PTO)knobintotheDisengage
positionandputthetractioncontrolpedalinNeutral.
Starttheengine,shiftthebladecontrol(PTO)knob
intotheEngageposition,andturntheKeyChoicekey
andreleaseit:Theoperating-in-reversewarninglight
shouldilluminate.
6.Shiftthebladecontrol(PTO)knobtotheDisengage
position:Theoperating-in-reversewarninglightshould
turnoff.
PushingtheMachineManually
Important:Alwayspushthemachinemanually.Never
towthemachinebecauseitmaydamagethetransaxle.
ToPushtheMachine
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface.
2.Disengagetheblades(PTO).
3.Settheparkingbrake.
4.Stoptheengineandwaitforallmovingpartstostop.
5.Removetheignitionkey.
6.Removethegrasscollector;refertoRemovingthe
GrassCollector.
7.Pullthedrivecontrol,locatedbehindtherightrear
wheel,outtothePushposition(Figure13).
Note:Thisdisengagesthedrivesystemandallows
thewheelstoturnfreely.

Note:Themachinewillnotdriveunlessthedrive

3.Installthegrasscollector;refertoInstallingtheGrass
Collector.
DrivingtheMachineForward
orBackward
Thethrottlecontrolregulatestheenginespeedasmeasured
inRPM(revolutionsperminute).Placethethrottlecontrolin
theFastpositionforbestperformance.
Togoforward:
1.Releasetheparkingbrake;refertoReleasingthe
ParkingBrake.
