Replacing Line
F or re placement line , purc hase a new , pre-w ound spool of line
(model no . 88175) or bulk line (0.065 inc h dia. (1.6 mm) x 30ft.
(9 m)) that y ou can wind onto the old spool. Both are a v ailable
from y our A uthorized T oro Dealer .
Metal wir e, r ope, plastic kni v es, or an y material other than
T or o .065 inch dia. (1.6 mm) n ylon monofilament may
o v er load the motor , possibl y causing a fir e or electrical
shock.
Do not use an y material other than T or o .065 inch dia.
(1.6 mm) n ylon monofilament, 30 ft. (9 m) maximum line
length.
Removing the Spool
1. T wist the cap off countercloc kwise ( Figure 12 ).

2. R emo v e the cap and spool ( Figure 13 ).
Note: If the spring falls off , install it before installing the
spool.

3. T horoughly clean the cutting head and cap and inspect them
for any damag ed or w or n par ts .
Rewinding the Spool
Note: If y ou are re placing the spool with a new , pre-w ound
spool, discard the empty spool and skip this section.
1. R emo v e any cutting line left on the spool.
2. Hook one end of line all the w ay into the slot on the spool
( Figure 14 ), allo wing no mor e than 1/8 inch (3 mm) to
pr otr ude.

3. Wind the line in the direction of the ar ro w on the spool, in
lev el ro ws , betw een the spool flang es .
Important: T he trimmer will not function cor r ectl y if
y ou wind the line in the wr ong dir ection, the end of the
line pr otr udes mor e than 1/8 inch (3 mm), or y ou wind
mor e than 30 ft (9 m) of line on the spool.
Installing the Spool
If y ou do not full y install the spool and cap , the trimmer
could thr o w them during operation, causing injur y to y ou
or bystander s.
1. Holding the line and spool, inser t the spool into the cutting
head and the line into the eyelet ( Figure 15 ).
