Starting and Stopping the
Trimmer
T o star t the trimmer , squeeze the trig g er ( Figure 5 ).

Lengthening the Line
T o increase the length of the cutting line , tap the spool on the
g round while the trimmer is r unning ( Figure 8 ).
Note: T he blade under the guard will cut the line to the cor rect
length.

Important: Use the f ollo wing pr ecautions to ensur e
optimal line perf or mance:
Do not hold the spool on the g r ound.
T o help prev ent line tangle , tap only once to lengthen line . If
additional line is required, w ait a few seconds before tapping
the trimmer head.
If the line is not adv anced occasionally , it will w ear do wn
to the eyelet. W hen the trimmer stops , the shor t line may
r etract into the cutter head . Should this occur , remo v e
spool, refeed the line through eyelet, and assemble spool to
trimmer .
Operating Tips
T o reduce line w ear and impro v e trimming perfor mance , use the
follo wing tec hniques when trimming:
R emo v e any wire , rope or string-lik e matter whic h could
become entangled in the rotating line from the trimming area.
T rim only when the g rass and w eeds are dr y .
Slo wly mo v e the trimmer in and out of the area being cut
( Figure 9 ).
