SET UP INSTRUCTIONS (Continued) CONNECTING THATCHER HYDRAULICS 1. Remove the two bolts attaching the Check Valve Clamp to the main frame. See Fig. 9. 2. Slide the check valve on the bottom of the Check Valve Clamp. Use the existing bolts to secure the Check Valve Clamp to the main frame in the same manner it was removed. 3. Attach the hoses from the check valve to the cylinder and to the hydraulic motor. See the Hydraulic Schematic for hose lengths and routing.

SET UP INSTRUCTIONS (Continued) CONNECTING WIRING 1. Remove the two bolts on the Control Box and remove the Lid. 2. Remove the top nut from the toggle switch. Slide the toggle switch through the opening labeled *Thatcher® on the Lid. 3. Secure the nut on the switch, 4. Screw the two leads from the shames on each terminal on the switch. Secure. 5. Connect the black positive wire to the side terminal on the switch. 6. Replace the Lid and secure obits.
CONTROLS THATCHER SWITCH (Fig. 11) The electric switch controls the hydraulics to raise and lower the Thatcher. Push the switch upward to raise and push it downward to lower. Too much grease can cause overheating.
MAINTENANCE CHANGING HYDRAULIC CIL AND FILTER Normally, change hydraulic oil and filter after every 500 operating hours. if cil becomes contaminated, contact your local TOR Distributor because the system must be flushed. Contaminated oil looks milky or black when compared to clean oil. 1. Remove the belt guard. 2. Loosen the bolts on the bearing. 3. Remove the belt on the pump pulley. 4. At the valve bank, check the stamping on the valves for the OUT and IN ports.
MAINTENANCE (Continued) DRIVE CHAIN ADJUSTMENT (Flg. 13) The drive chain is adjusted to allow a 1/8" deflection with 5 Ibs. of force. Do not over tighten the chain because it will wear rapidly. [f chain is to loose, the sprocket will wear. To adjust the drive chain: A. Loosen the 1/2" bolts attaching the hydraulic motor to the side plate. B. Slide the hydraulic motor until proper tension is achieved. C. Tighten the two bolts.
STORAGE 1. Thoroughly clean the thatcher. The blade area should be free of dirt, leaves and debris. 2. Check the condition of the blades. Replace any worn or broken blades. 3. Check all fasteners for looseness: tighten as necessary. 4. Grease or oil all grease fittings and bearings. Wipe off excess lubricant. 5. Check the tension and condition of the drive chain. Adjust the tension if necessary and lightly coat the chain with grease.
