Safety
•Rotatingaugerbladescaninjurengersorhands.
Staybehindthehandlesandawayfromthedischarge
openingwhileoperatingthemachine.Keepyourface,
hands,feet,andanyotherpartofyourbodyor
clothingawayfrommovingorrotatingparts.
•Neverdirectthedischargetowardpeopleorareaswhere
propertydamagecanoccur.
•Exercisecautiontoavoidslippingorfalling.Alwaysbe
sureofyourfooting,andkeeparmholdonthehandles.
Walk;neverrun.
•Exerciseextremecautionwhenoperatingonslopes.
•Neveroperatethemachinewithoutgoodvisibilityor
light.
•Lookbehindandusecarewhenbackingupwiththe
machine.
•Whennotactivelyclearingsnow ,disengagepowertothe
rotorblades.
•Useextensioncordsandreceptaclesasspeciedby
themanufacturerforallmachineswithelectric-starting
motors.
•Donotattempttoclearsnowfromagravelorcrushed
rocksurface.Thisproductisintendedforuseonlyon
pavedsurfaces.
•Donotusethemachineonaroof.
•Neverattempttomakeanyadjustmentswhiletheengine
isrunning(exceptwhenspecicallyrecommendedby
manufacturer).
•Stayalertforhiddenhazardsortrafc.
•Afterstrikingaforeignobject,shutofftheengine,
removetheignitionkey,thoroughlyinspectthemachine
foranydamage,andrepairthedamagebeforestarting
andoperatingthemachine.
•Ifthemachineshouldstarttovibrateabnormally,shutoff
theengineandcheckimmediatelyforthecause.
•Donotruntheengineindoors,exceptwhenstarting
theengineandfortransportingthemachineinorout
ofthebuilding.Opentheoutsidedoors;exhaustfumes
aredangerous.
•Donotoverloadthemachinecapacitybyattemptingto
clearsnowattoofastarate.
•Nevertouchahotengineormufer.
•Thoroughlyinspecttheelectricalcordbeforeplugging
itintoapowersource.Ifthecordisdamaged,donot
useittostartthemachine.Replacethedamagedcord
immediately.Unplugthepowercordwheneveryouare
notstartingthemachine.
FreewheelingorUsingthe
Self-PropelDrive
Youcanoperatethesnowthrowerwiththeself-propelfeature
engagedordisengaged(freewheeling).
Tofreewheel,inserttheaxlepinsthroughtheaxleholes,but
notthroughthewheelhubs(Figure24).
