Controls
•Auger/ImpellerDriveControlLever—Toengage
boththeaugerandimpeller,presstheleveragainst
therighthandgrip.Todisengage,releasethelever.
•TractionControlLever—Toengagethetraction
(wheeldrive),presstheleveragainsttheleft
handgrip.Tostopthetraction,releasethelever.
•SpeedSelectorLever—Thiscontrolhas4
positions:3forwardspeedsand1reverse.Tochange
speeds,movethespeedselectorlevertothedesired
position.Theleverlocksinanotchateachspeed
selection.
Note:Beforeshiftinggearsintooroutofreverse,
youmustreleasethetractioncontrollever.Youmay
shiftbetweenanyoftheforwardspeedswithout
releasingthetractioncontrollever.
•DischargeChuteControl—Rotatethedischarge
chutecontrolclockwisetomovethedischargechute
totheleft;counterclockwisetomovethechuteto
theright.
•ChuteDeectorHandle—Movethedeector
handleforwardtomovethesnowstreamdown;
moveitrearwardtomovethesnowstreamup.
•FuelShutoffValve—Closethevalveby
rotatingclockwise.Openthevalvebyrotatingit
counterclockwise.Closethevalvewhenyoudonot
usethesnowthrower.
•Choke—Movethechoketothe(Full)positionto
startacoldengine.Asenginewarmsup,gradually
movethechoketotheOffposition.
•IgnitionSwitch—Insertthekeybeforestartingthe
engine.Tostoptheengine,removethekey.
•ThrottleLever—Movethethrottleleverupward
toincreasetheenginespeed;moveitdownwardto
decreasetheenginespeed.Movethethrottleleverto
theStoppositiontostoptheengine.
•Prime—Presstheprimertopumpasmallamountof
gasolineintotheengineforimprovedcold-weather
starting.
•RecoilStarter—Therecoilstarterisontheback
sideoftheengine.Pulltherecoilstartertostartthe
engine.

FreewheelingorUsingthe
Self-propelDrive
Youcanoperatethesnowthrowerwiththeself-propel
featureengagedordisengaged(freewheeling).
Tofreewheel,slidethewheelsinwardandinserttheaxle
pinsthroughtheouteraxleholes,butnotthroughthe
wheelhubs(Figure16).
