TractionCircuitComponentFailure
ThetractioncircuitonGroundsmaster4000−Dand4010−Dmachinesisa
closedloopsystemthatincludesthepiston(traction)pump,two(2)frontwheel
motorsandtherearaxlemotor.Ifacomponentinthetractioncircuitshouldfail,
debrisandcontaminationfromthefailedcomponentwillcirculatethroughoutthe
tractioncircuit.Thiscontaminationcandamageothercomponentsinthecircuit
soitmustberemovedtopreventadditionalcomponentfailure.
Therecommendedmethodofremovingtractioncircuitcontaminationwouldbe
totemporarilyinstalltheTorohighowhydrauliclter(seeSpecialT ools(page
2–17))intothecircuit.Thisltershouldbeusedwhenconnectinghydraulictest
gaugesinordertotesttractioncircuitcomponentsorafterreplacingafailed
tractioncircuitcomponent(e.g.traction(piston)pumporwheelmotor).Thelter
willensurethatcontaminatesareremovedfromtheclosedloopandthus,donot
causeadditionalcomponentdamage.
OncetheTorohighowhydrauliclterkithasbeenplacedinthecircuit,raise
andsupportthemachinewithallwheelsofftheground.Then,operatethe
tractioncircuittoallowoilowthroughoutthecircuit.Thelterwillremove
contaminationfromthetractioncircuitduringoperation.BecausetheToro
highowlterisbi−directional,thetractioncircuitcanbeoperatedinboththe
forwardandreversedirection.Theltershouldberemovedfromthemachine
aftercontaminationhasbeenremovedfromthetractioncircuit.SeeFiltering

Torohighowhydrauliclter.
ThealternativetousingtheT orohighowhydrauliclterkitafteratractioncircuit
componentfailurewouldbetodisassemble,drainandthoroughlycleanall
components,hydraulictubesandhydraulichosesinthetractioncircuit.Ifany
debrisremainsinthetractioncircuitandthemachineisoperated,thedebriscan
causeadditionalcircuitcomponentfailure.
