Groundsmastermodelsthatarepoweredbyadieselenginethatcomplies
withEPATier4emissionregulationsareequippedwithanexhaustsystem
thatincludesadieseloxidationcatalyst(DOC)andadieselparticulatelter
(DPF).Theseexhaustcomponentsrequireserviceorcomponentreplacement
atintervalsidentiedinyourOperatorsManual.Additionally,theexhaust
assemblyusestwo(2)temperaturesensorsandapressuredifferentialsensor
whichareusedasinputsfortheengineECUtomonitortheoperationofthe
exhaustsystem.
Thedieselparticulatelter(DPF)iscleanedperiodicallythrougharegenerative
processthatiscontrolledbytheengineECU(seeYanmarEngine:Models
30607,30609and30636intheGeneralInformationsectionofthischapter).The
InfoCenterdisplaywillidentifythestatusofDPFregeneration.Atrecommended
intervals,DPFreconditioningisnecessarywhichwillrequireexhaustsystem
disassembly,DPFremovalandDPFreconditioningbyacompanythathasthe
necessaryequipment.OncetheDPFhasgonethroughthereconditioning
process,itcanbere−installedintheexhaustsystem.ContactyourToro
DistributorforinformationonreconditioningtheDPF .
Thedieseloxidationcatalyst(DOC)hasaservicelifeexpectancyandrequires
replacementatrecommendedintervals.ReplacementoftheDOCwillrequire
exhaustsystemdisassembly,removaloftheexistingDOCandinstallation
ofthenewDOC.

systemonyourGroundsmaster.

Note:TheexhaustsystemDPFandDOCcanberemovedfromtheexhaust
systemwithoutremovingtheentireexhaustfromtheengine.Certainengine
serviceprocedures(e.g.rockercoverremovalforvalveclearanceadjustment)
willrequireremovaloftheexhaustsystemassembly.
CAUTION
Themuferandexhaustpipemaybehot.Toavoidpossibleburns,
allowtheengineandexhaustsystemtocoolbeforeworkingonthe
exhaustsystem.
1.Raiseandsupporthoodtogainaccesstoexhaustsystem.Allowengine
andexhausttocoolbeforedoinganydisassemblyofexhaustsystem
components.
