ProcedureforEngineCoolingFanMotorCaseDrainLeakageTest
Overaperiodoftime,themotorcanwearinternally.Thistestmeasurescase
drainvolumewhilerestrictingowacrossthemotorparts.Casedrainvolume
underloadofmorethan12%oftotalmotorowindicatesthegearsandwear
platesinthemotorhaveworn.Awornmotormayby-passhydraulicuidtoits
casedraincausingthemotortobelessefcient.Eventually,enoughuidloss
willcausethefanmotortoslow,reducingitsabilitytocooltheengine.Continued
operationwithaworn,inefcientmotorcangenerateexcessiveheat,cause
damagetosealsandothercomponentsinthehydraulicsystemandaffect
engineperformance.

Phototach(non-contacttachometer)
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurfacewiththecuttingunitsloweredandthe
reelenable/disableswitchintheDISABLEposition.Makesurethatthe
engineisoffandtheparkingbrakeisapplied.
CAUTION
Preventpersonalinjuryand/ordamagetoequipment.Readall
WARNINGS,CAUTIONSandPrecautionsforHydraulicTestingatthe
beginningofthissection.
2.Raiseandsupporthoodtogainaccesstofanshroudandfanmotorplumbing.
3.Disconnectthereturntubefromthefanshroud(lowertube)andthefan
controlmanifoldM2port.Removethehydraulictubeandinstallthea
hydraulictesterandhosebetweenthefanshroudbulkheadttingandthefan
controlmanifold.Makesurethatthetesterowcontrolvalveisfullyopen.
4.Starttheengineandrunatlowidlespeed.Checkforhydraulicleaksattester
connectionsandmakeconnectionsifnecessarybeforeproceedingwithtest.
5.Setthethrottletohighspeed.
A.UsetheInfoCenterdisplaytoverifytheengineRPMis2600RPMfor
Models30603,30605and30635.
B.UsetheInfoCenterdisplaytoverifytheengineRPMis2700RPMfor
Models30607,30609and30636.
6.Makesurethatthehydraulicoilisatnormaloperatingtemperatureby
operatingthemachineforapproximatelytenminutes.
7.Stoptheengineanddisconnectthewireharnessconnectorfromthe
proportionalreliefvalvesolenoidatfancontrolmanifoldport.
8.Disconnectthecasedraintubefromthemotor(smalldiametercentertube
atfanshroud)andinstalla1.8m(6ft)hydraulichosetothefanshroud
bulkheadtting.Putasteelplugonthedisconnectedtubetopreventsystem
contamination.
9.Placeopenendofthecasedraintesthoseintoadrainpan.
10.Twopeoplearerequiredtocompletethefollowingsteps.Onepersonshould
sitintheoperator’sseatandoperatethemachinewhileanotherperson
readsthetesterandmeasuresfanmotorcasedrainvolume.
