1.Removethetensioningcapfromthespindle
shaftandslidethespindleoutofthecastorarm
(Figure105).Repositiontheshims,asrequired,
toraiseorlowerthecastorwheeluntilthecutting
unithasthecorrectpitch.

ServicingtheCastorArm
Bushings
Thecastorarmshavebushingspressedintothe
topandbottomofthetubeandaftermanyhours
ofoperation,thebushingswillwear.T ocheckthe
bushings,movethecastorforkbackandforthand
fromsidetoside.Ifthecastorspindleislooseinside
thebushings,thebushingsarewornandmustbe
replaced.
1.Raisethecuttingunitsothatthewheelsare
offoftheoor.Blockthecuttingunitsothatit
cannotaccidentallyfall.
2.Removethetensioningcap,spacer(s),and
thrustwasherfromthetopofthecastorspindle.
3.Pullthecastorspindleoutofthemountingtube.
Allowthethrustwasherandspacer(s)toremain
onthebottomofthespindle.
4.Insertapinpunchintothetoporbottomofthe
mountingtubeanddrivethebushingoutofthe
tube(Figure106).Alsodrivetheotherbushing
outofthetube.Cleantheinsideofthetubes
toremovedirt.

drivethebushingsintothemountingtube.
6.Inspectthecastorspindleforwearandreplace

spacer(s)ontothespindle.Installthetensioning
caponthecastorspindletoretainallpartsin
place.
