2.Starttheengine.
3.Holdtherunninggardenhoseathandlelevelanddirect
thewatertoowonthegroundjustinfrontofthe
rightreartire(Figure43).

2.Drainthefuelfromthefueltank;refertoEmptying
theFuelTankandCleaningtheFilter(page21).
WARNING
Tippingthemachinemaycausethefuelto
leakfromthecarburetororthefueltank.
Gasolineisextremelyammable,highly
explosive,and,undercertainconditions,can
causepersonalinjuryorpropertydamage.
Avoidfuelspillsbyrunningtheenginedryor
byremovingthegasolinewithahandpump;
neversiphon.
3.Tipthemachineontoitsside,withtheairlterupin
theair,untiltheupperhandlerestsontheground.
4.Removethedirtandgrassclippingswithahardwood
scraper;avoidburrsandsharpedges.
5.Turnthemachineupright.
6.Fillthefueltank.
7.Connectthewiretothesparkplug.

PreparingtheFuelSystem
WARNING
Gasolinecanvaporizeifyoustoreitoverlong
periodsoftimeandexplodeifitcomesintocontact
withanopename.
•Donotstoregasolineoverlongperiodsoftime.
•Donotstorethemachinewithgasolineinthe
fueltankorthecarburetorinanenclosurewith
anopename.(Forexample,afurnaceora
waterheaterpilotlight.)
•Allowtheenginetocoolbeforestoringitinany
enclosure.
Onthelastrefuelingoftheyear,addfuelstabilizertothefuel
asdirectedbytheenginemanufacturer.Emptythefueltank
whenmowingthelasttimebeforestoringthemachine.

outoffuel.
2.Starttheengineagain.
3.Allowtheenginetorununtilitstops.Whenyoucan
nolongerstarttheengine,itissufcientlydry.
