Important:

Ifyoudonothaveatorquewrenchor
areuncomfortableperformingthisprocedure,contact
anAuthorizedServiceDealer.
Examinethebladesforsharpnessandanywearordamage
wheneveryourunoutofgasoline;refertoInspectingthe
Blades(page22).Ifthebladeedgeisdullornicked,haveit
sharpenedorreplaceit.Ifthebladesareworn,bent,damaged
orcracked,replacethemimmediatelywithagenuineToro
replacementblades.
DANGER
Awornordamagedbladecanbreak,andapiece
ofthebladecouldbethrowntowardtheoperator
orabystander,resultinginseriouspersonalinjury
ordeath.
•Inspectthebladesbeforeeachuseforwearor
damage.
•Replacewornordamagedblades.
Note:Maintainsharpbladesthroughoutthecuttingseason,
becausesharpbladescutcleanlywithouttearingorshredding
thegrassblades.Tearingandshreddingturnsgrassbrownat
theedges,whichslowsgrowthandincreasesthechanceof
disease.
PreparingtoServicetheCuttingBlades
Tipthemachineontoitsside,withtheairlterupintheair,
untiltheupperhandlerestsontheground.
WARNING
Thebladesaresharp;contactingabladecould
resultinseriouspersonalinjury.
•Disconnectthewirefromthesparkplug.
•Weargloveswhenservicingtheblades.
InspectingtheBlades
ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily
1.Inspectthecuttingedges(Figure36).Iftheedgesare
notsharporhavenicks,removethebladesandhave
themsharpenedorreplacethem.

2.Inspectthebladesthemselves,especiallythecurved
area(Figure42).Ifyounoticeanydamage,wear,or
aslotforminginthisarea(Figure36),immediately
replacethemwithnewblades.
DANGER
Ifyouallowabladetowear,aslotwillform
betweenthesailandatpartoftheblade.
Eventuallyapieceoftheblademaybreak
offandbethrownfromunderthehousing,
possiblyresultinginseriousinjurytoyouor
bystanders.
•Inspectthebladesbeforeeachuseforwear
ordamage.
•Nevertrytostraightenabladethatisbent
orweldabrokenorcrackedblade.
•Checkforbentblades;refertoChecking
forBentBlades(page22).
