LubricatingtheVerticutter
Eachverticutterhas7greasettings(Figure8)that
mustbelubricatedweeklywithNo.2GeneralPurpose
LithiumBaseGrease.
Thelubricationpointsarethefrontroller(2),therear
roller(2)thereelbearings(2)andthebedknifeadjuster.
Important:Lubricatingthecuttingunits
immediatelyafterwashinghelpspurgewateroutof
thebearingsandincreasesbearinglife.
1.Wipeeachgreasettingwithacleanrag.
2.Applygreaseuntilcleangreaseisseencomingoutof
therollersealsandthebearingreliefvalve(
Figure8).

3.Wipeanyexcessgreaseaway.
AdjustingtheReelBearings
Toensurelonglifeofthereelbearings,periodically
checkifthereisanyreelendplay.Thereelbearingscan
becheckedandadjustedasfollows:
1.Holdontothereelshaftandtrytomovethereel
assemblysidetoside(Figure9).

A.Loosentheexternalsetscrewthatsecuresthe
bearingadjustingnuttothebearinghousing
locatedontheleftsideofthecuttingunit

B.Usea1-3/8inchsocketwrenchtoslowlytighten
thereelbearingadjustmentnutuntilthereisno
endplayinthereel.Ifadjustingthenutdoesnot
eliminatereelendplay,replacethereelbearings.
Note:Reelbearingsdonotrequirepre-load.
Overtighteningthereelbearingadjusternutwill
damagethereelbearings.
3.Tightenthesetscrewthatsecuresthebearing
adjustingnuttothebearinghousing.Torquetheset
screwto12-15in-lb(1.4to1.6N-m).
