Tostoptheengine,releasetheenginestophandle(Figure14).
Important:Whenyoureleasetheenginecontrolbar,
boththeengineandcuttinglineshouldstopwithin5
seconds.Iftheydonotstopproperly,stopusingyour

Hauling
•Usecarewhenloadingorunloadingthemachineintoa
traileroratruck.
•Tiethemachinedownsecurelyusingstraps,chains,cable,
orropes.Boththefrontandtherearstrapsshouldbe
directeddownandoutwardfromthemachine.

GeneralMowingTips
•Cleartheareaofsticks,stones,wire,branches,andother
debristhatthecuttinglinecouldhit.
•Avoidstrikingsolidobjectswiththecuttingline.Never
deliberatelymowoveranyobject.
•Ifthemachinestrikesanobjectorstartstovibrate,
immediatelystoptheengine,disconnectthewirefrom
thesparkplug,andexaminethemachinefordamage.
•Forbestperformance,installanewcuttinglinebefore
thecuttingseasonbegins.
•ReplacethecuttinglinewhennecessarywithaToro
replacementcuttingline.
CuttingGrass
•Cutonlyaboutathirdofthegrassbladeatatime.Donot
cutbelowthe51mm(2inch)settingunlessthegrassis
sparseoritislatefallwhengrassgrowthbeginstoslow
down.RefertoAdjustingtheCuttingHeight.
•Mowonlydrygrassorleaves.Wetgrassandleavestend
toclumpontheyardandcancausethemachinetoplug
ortheenginetostall.
WARNING
Wetgrassorleavescancauseseriousinjuryif
youslipandcontactthecuttingline.Mowonly
indryconditions.
•Alternatethemowingdirection.Thishelpsdispersethe
clippingsoverthelawnforevenfertilization.
•Ifthenishedlawnappearanceisunsatisfactory,tryone
ormoreofthefollowing:
–Replacethecuttingline.
–Walkataslowerpacewhilemowing.
–Raisethecuttingheightonyourmachine.
–Cutthegrassmorefrequently.
–Overlapcuttingswathsinsteadofcuttingafullswath
witheachpass.
CuttingLeaves
•Aftercuttingthelawn,ensurethathalfofthelawnshows
throughthecutleafcover.Youmayneedtomakemore
thanonepassovertheleaves.
•Slowdownyourmowingspeedifthemachinedoesnot
cuttheleavesnelyenough.
