Manual

Remove the mains plug from the electrical outlet if the device is not in use.
Always unplug the power supply unit from the mains socket before cleaning the
device.
Never replace damaged mains connecting cables yourself. In such a case, sepa-
rate the device from the mains voltage and take it to a specialist workshop.
The product must not get damp or wet; risk of a fatal electric shock!
Never use the device in the proximity of highly combustible or ammable materials
or gases; danger of explosion!
Never work on energized electrical components. Disconnect the device you want
to solder from the power supply and check if it is de-energized.
Protect body and eyes from soldering sparks. Wear appropriate protective clothes
and protective glasses.
Always use a heat-proof support for the soldering iron (for the soldering iron itself
as well as during the soldering procedure). Danger of re!
Vapors which form during soldering are hazardous to the health. Use, if necessary,
an appropriate exhaust system or aerate accordingly.
Transport the device only when it has completely cooled down; risk of burns or of
re! The same is valid if e.g. you wish to replace the soldering iron tip (disconnect
the soldering iron from the mains voltage rst!).
When used in industrial facilities, the safety regulations laid down by the profes-
sional trade association for electrical equipment and facilities must be adhered to.
If the soldering iron is used at schools, training facilities, do-it-yourself and hobby
workshops it should not be handled unless supervised by trained, responsible
personnel.
Consult an expert when in doubt about the operation, safety or connection of the
appliance.
Maintenance, modications and repairs must only be completed by a technician
or an authorised repair centre.
If you have questions which remain unanswered by these operating instructions,
contact our technical support service or other technical personnel.
b) Connected devices
Also observe the safety and operating instructions of any other devices which are
connected to the product.
Operation
a) Putting into operation and Use
Depending on the version, the soldering iron tip must be fastened into the heating element
of the soldering iron with one or several screws. Insert it completely then tightly screw the
screw(s).
With the 150W and the 300W versions, a plate support is included in the delivery; it must be
shaped rst. Place the soldering iron on the support. An ON / OFF switch is located on the
handle of the soldering iron (0 = OFF, I = ON).
The 30 / 60W version is equipped with a soldering iron stand with spirals and sponge. The
sponge must be dampened with water and is later used to clean the soldering iron tip. A switch
on the device is to switch ON / OFF (0 = OFF) or to select the output of the soldering iron (30W
or 60W). A pilot lamp indicates if the soldering iron is switched on (pilot lamp is lit) or switched
off.
As already described in the safety instructions, a heat-proof support is necessary for the solder-
ing iron (for storage as well as when soldering). Otherwise, this can cause the discoloration of
the base or even cause a re. Keep ammable objects (e.g. wood, synthetic materials, curtains,
cables, etc.) away from the soldering iron!
Keep your working place organized and use a heat-proof support.
Before operation, always check if the soldering iron tip is inserted tightly and if it is in
good condition.
Do not use the soldering iron in tasks for which it is not designed for.
The soldering iron tip reaches very high temperatures. Make sure it does not get
into contact with the skin or other body parts; danger of burns! Please note that the
soldering iron needs some time to cool down after operation.
During soldering, vapors hazardous to health are generated. Make sure to ensure
sufcient ventilation or an appropriate hood!
Do not heat synthetic materials. Poisonous and/or explosive vapors or gases can be
generated. Furthermore, these materials can spark off. Do not heat liquids, danger
to life through electric shock!
Soldering lead-base materials is poisonous. This is why you should not eat, drink
and smoke when operating the device. Wash your hands thoroughly afterwards.
Clean soldering joints before the soldering procedure.
Position the soldering iron on its support.
Plug the mains plug into an appropriate mains socket 230V~/50Hz with earth connector.
Place the ON /OFF switch onto the “I” position. With the 30 / 60W version, select the desired
heating power.
Tin-plate the soldering tip with an appropriate solder and heat the soldering joint.
