STORAGE
When the coee machine is not being used for a longer period of me, you must rst release the steam in the appliance. This is
done as follows:
1. Check that the steam controller is switched o (turned upwards). Switch on the appliance and wait unl the indicator lights
remain on. Press the steam buon and wait unl the indicator light remains on.
2. Turn the steam pipe away from the appliance, use the provided handle for this. Hold a cup under the steam pipe to collect
any water that is released.
Warning: The steam pipe becomes hot, only grab it by means of the supplied handle.
3. Press the steam buon and then slowly turn the steam controller, aer which the steam sprays out of the steam pipe. Allow
the steam to be released for 3 minutes.
Warning: Never turn the steam controller too quickly, too much steam could be created too quickly otherwise, which in rare
cases could lead to an explosion.
4. Then turn the steam controller closed again (turned upwards) and press the steam buon to turn it o. Allow the appliance
to cool down and remove the plug from the socket.
Cauon! Avoid contact with the steam, this could result in personal injury!
Store the appliance on a dry locaon at a temperature that is higher than 0 °C.
DE-SCALING
Regularly de-scale your coee machine. The de-scaling intervals depend on the hardness of the mains water and the frequency
at which the coee machine is being used. We recommend de-scaling the coee machine every 2-3 months. Due to scaling,
the heang element can become obstructed. This causes overheang, as a result of which the coee machine is switched o
automacally as a safety precauon and will no longer funcon. The coee machine will have to be repaired. You can de-scale
the coee machine with a special de-scaling agent for coee machines or with kitchen grade vinegar.
If you use a special de-scaling agent for coee machines, you must observe the instrucons on the packaging of this agent.
When using kitchen grade vinegar, proceed as follows:
1. Switch o the appliance by pressing the on/o buon and remove any remaining water from the water reservoir.
2.
Fill the water reservoir with clean, cold water and cold kitchen grade vinegar up to the MAX mark. The water and kitchen
grade vinegar rao should be 4:1.
Place the lter holder with lter (without coee) back in the appliance and place a cup on
the cup grille.
3. Check that the steam controller is switched o (turned upwards) and switch on the appliance.
4. Press the coee buon when the indicator light next to the buon remains on. Allow the water to ow unl your cup is full.
Press the coee buon once more to stop the coee making process and remove the water from the cup.
5. Repeat step 4 once and then wait 5 seconds.
6. Press the steam buon and wait unl the indicator light remains on. Make steam for 2 minutes by slowly turning the steam
controller. Hold a cup under the steam pipe to collect any water that is released. Turn the steam controller upwards again
and press the steam buon once more to switch it o.
7. Switch o the appliance. Wait at least 15 minutes and then switch the appliance back on. As a result the scale will be
soened and removed.
8. Wait unl the indicator lights remain on and allow the appliance to run unl the water reservoir is empty. The de-scaling
process has been completed. Empty the cup and the removable leak tray to remove any water.
9. Aer de-scaling, allow a full reservoir of cold water to ow through the appliance at least 3 mes, to remove all de-scaling
liquid and vinegar residues and thus prevent a sour taste in the coee. Repeat all above-menoned steps, only now do not
add kitchen grade vinegar to the water. It is not necessary to wait 15 minutes at point 7.
Cauon! If the coee machine has not been used for some me, e.g. due to vacaon, it is recommended to remove and clean
all separate components. Then place the cleaned separate components back on their place and allow the coee machine to
make one run with clean water. In this way you will prevent a possible foreign taste.
