Note
Start-in-gear protection prevents engine
from starting at other than neutral shift. In-
gear starting of engine will move the boat
immediately, potentially leading to falling
down or causing passenger(s) to be thrown
overboard.
Tiller handle type
1. Be sure to install the stop switch lock
to the stop switch, and attach the stop
switch lanyard securely to the operator
or to the operator's PFD (Personal Flo-
tation Device.)

position.

3. Set the throttle grip to START position.

(For manual starter type)
This engine is equipped with a compres-
sion release mechanism.
4. Pull the starter handle slowly until you
feel engagement, keep pulling till you
feel less resistance. Then pull it quickly.
repeat if necessary until started.
