Dear THORENS customer, Cher client THORENS, Thank you very much for your confidence in our product, the record player TD 235. With the purchase of this device you have acquired a precision instrument for the purpose of playing back analogue records. This appliance however requires your attention with respect to set-up, placement and handling in order to achieve a flawless operation.
Auspacken und Montage Entnehmen Sie das Gerät und alle Zubehörteile der Verpackung. Entfernen Sie durch seitlichen Druck die beiden Transportsicherungen (Fig.1). Sie befinden sich vorne links und hinten rechts unter dem Plattenteller. Legen Sie nun den Plattenteller auf den Antriebs-teller und drücken die beiden Sicherungsfedern soweit nach unten, bis sie in die Rille der Plattentel-lerachse einrasten (Fig. 2). Stecken Sie die beiden Scharniere in die dafür vorgesehenen Aussparungen (Fig. 3).
Unpacking and set - up Déballage et assemblage Take the record player and all accessories out of the carton. Remove the two transportation locks (Fig. 1) by applying lateral pressure. The locks are located underneath the platter at the front left and at the rear right. Put the platter onto the sub-platter and press down the two safety springs until they set into the groove of the platter spindle (Fig. 2). Insert each hinge into the respective recess (Fig. 3).
Tonarm- und Systemeinstellungen Stellen Sie den Regler für die Auflagekraft (1) auf 0 und drehen Sie die Antiskating-Einrichtung (2) entgegen dem Uhrzeigersinn bis an den Anschlag (Fig. 6). Nun drehen Sie das Tonarm-Gegengewicht (3) auf das hintere Tonarmrohr (Fig. 5). Entriegeln Sie den Tonarm (4) und schwenken ihn nach innen. Bringen Sie den Lifthebel (5) in Stellung , dabei den Tonarm festhalten (Fig. 6).
Adjusting tone arm and pick-up cartridge Réglages du bras de lecture et du système Turn the tracking force adjuster (1) to "0" and the anti-skating knob (2) counter-clockwise until it stops (Fig. 6). Screw the tonearm counter weight (3) onto the rear tonearm tube (Fig. 5). Unlock the tone arm (4) and move it a bit towards the centre of the platter. Bring the lift-lever (5) into position DOWN while holding back the tone arm (Fig. 6).
Montage und Justierung des Tonabnehmers Anstelle eines eingebauten Tonabnehmers kann ein anderer 1/2 Zoll-Tonabnehmer mit einem Eigengewicht von 3 - 10 g eingebaut werden. Lösen Sie dazu die konische Mutter (9) hinter dem Systemträger. Ziehen Sie nun den Systemträger nach vorne ab (Fig. 7). Entfernen Sie die beiden Befestigungsschrauben und ziehen Sie die Anschlussleitungen am System vorsichtig mit einer Pinzette ab.

To do this loosen the collar-lock (9) and pull off the head shell (Fig. 7). Unscrew the cartridge and carefully remove the coloured signal leads from the cartridge pins with a pair of tweezers.
Drehzahlwahl Mit dem linken Schaltknopf lassen sich die Geschwindigkeiten 33 und 45 einstellen (Fig. 10). Manueller Start und Tonarmlift Bringen Sie den Lifthebel (5) in Stellung . Nehmen Sie den Tonarm von der Tonarmstütze und schwenken ihn über die Einlaufrille der Schallplatte. Der Motor läuft jetzt an. Der Tonarm wird nun mit dem Lifthebel (5) bedämpft und Platten schonend abgesenkt .
