When firing the System 1
™
, hold it tightly against the shoulder, allowing
your body weight to absorb and buffer the force of the recoil. AN IM-
PROPERLY HELD FIREARM CAN “KICK” UPWARDS CAUSING
FACIAL INJURY AND/OR BRUISING.
If you decide not to fire, engage the thumb safety by pulling it fully rear-
ward. Then remove the cap from the nipple.
If the firearm is no longer going to be used, uncharge it by firing it into a
suitable backstop or pull the charge before returning it to your vehicle,
camp or home (see section on “Pulling a Charge”). AN ACCIDENTAL
DISCHARGE CAN CAUSE INJURY AND/OR DEATH TO THE
SHOOTER OR BYSTANDERS AND DAMAGE TO PROPERTY.
