Operating instructions

Wash suction cleaning/
sucking up liquids
Information for use
● Caution! Petrol, thinners, heating oil, etc., can develop explosive
vapour and mixtures when mixed with the intake air.
● Acetone, acids and solvents can attack the materials used to
produce the appliance. Clean and dirty water can be sucked up
without any hesitation.
● Clean and dry the dirty water tank and all the used parts after
sucking up liquids.
● Never suck up liquids without the dirty water tank.
● Your THOMAS TWIN tt AQUAFILTER is not suitable for sucking
up larger quantities of liquid from containers or basins.
● Caution! Never operate the pump without liquid.
● Empty and clean the appliance every time it is used for wet
cleaning. Dirty water and moist parts propagate the growth of
bacteria and fungi (see cleaning and maintenance instructions).
Only use original products and parts to ensure perfect cleaning
results.
You can get further supplies of the original THOMAS
concentrated cleaning agent from your specialist dealer or
the THOMAS Works Customer Service Department.
Before cleaning carpets
● Make sure that everything you want to wet clean is also suitable
for wet cleaning. Do not wet clean your sensitive, hand-woven or
non-fast dyed carpets, for example.
To check this apply a little cleaning agent solution to a soft cloth
and rub this on the carpet at a not too apparent point. Should
no traces of dye appear on the cloth it can be assumed that the
dye is colourfast.
The carpet must not be wet cleaned should this not be the case.
Should you have any doubts please consult your specialist carpet
dealer.
Should the carpet have been shampooed at an earlier point in
time it may well be that stronger foaming will occur in the dirty
water tank when using the THOMAS TWIN tt AQUAFILTER for
the first time. Add half a cup of vinegar to the dirty water tank to
prevent any further development of foam.
Immediately switch off the appliance and empty the dirty water
tank should foam escape from the air outlet.
When using the THOMAS cleaning concentrate for thorough
cleaning any increased foaming is excluded because this
concentrated cleaning agent is provided with a special anti-
foaming agent.
You should not walk over your cleaned carpet as long as it is wet.
The room should be well ventilated both while cleaning and
afterwards to ensure quick drying.
Carpet cleaning
Put the 2-piece anti-swash insert together.
Draw out the AQUA filter from the dirty water tank by the grip
and fit the anti-swash insert.
Remove HEPA filter from the appliance.
Insert the anti-swash insert and dirty water tank in the
appliance. Make sure that both the wet filter (13a) and the
motor protection filter (15) are fitted.
Remove the fresh water tank for filling (draw tank straight
upwards and out of the cleaner or fill up directly in the
appliance. In this case you have to lift up fresh water tank
cover.
When filling make sure that no impurities get into the
fresh water tank to prevent the dosing valve from not
functioning properly.
Fill up with cleaning concentrate and water to the grip lug
(max. 2.4 litres).
We recommend THOMAS ProTex original concentrated
cleaning agent for cleaning carpets.
See label on the cleaning concentrate bottle for application
and dosage.
Use hand warm water (max. 30°C).
Connect up suction hose and fit telescopic suction tube.
Fit carpet spray nozzle (without hard floor adapter), connect
up cleaning agent hose fast coupling to the shut-off valve and
lock by turning. Then fasten the cleaning agent hose by means
of the two tube clips on the suction tube.
Pull out the mains power supply plug and cable from the
appliance and connect up.
Switch on the appliance and set for maximum suction power. Switch
on pump. Control lamp comes on.
Press the lever on the shut-off valve (24) until cleaning fluid
escapes. Draw the nozzle straight over the carpet and press
down the nozzle on the carpet at the same time. Release the
valve lever at the end of a strip or when stopping work to stop
spraying. When the sprayed liquid has been sucked up, lift the
nozzle and begin at a new line with slight overlapping. In this
way you can treat the entire area strip for strip.
Should there still be traces of liquid remaining on the cleaned
strips this liquid can be sucked up without having to spray
again.
Make sure that the mechanical suction controller (25) is
completely closed.
In the case of very stubborn dirt you can apply cleaning
fluid when moving the carpet spraying nozzle forwards. The
treatment can also be carried out by just putting the pump into
operation.
Ensure that you do not spread too much liquid over the carpeting
since this may cause waves or bumps in the carpet which, however,
will disappear again after a longer drying period.
To avoid the liquid running back into the suction tube when stopping
work hold the suction tube and hose upwards at an angle for a few
seconds while the motor is still running. Turn off the appliance only
after you have done this.
The spray extraction system
▪ The cleaning solution is sprayed deep into the
carpet under pressure
▪ Dirt is detached and washed out fibre-deep
▪ Soiled water is extracted at maximum power and carpet
pile restored to upright position.
All in one operation.
