Installation Instructions for
Fluorescent Luminaire Disconnect
For Catalog Numbers LD2, LD2W, LD3, and LD3W
(catalog numbers may have alpha and/or numeric suffixes)
NOTICE: THIS PRODUCT IS TO BE INSTALLED BY A
QUALIFIED ELECTRCIAN IN ACCORDANCE WITH NATIONAL
ELECTRICAL CODE OR CANADIAN ELECTRICAL CODE
REQUIREMENTS.
INSTALLATION:
1. Disconnect power before installing.
2. Remove any lamps and access covers on the luminiare needed to
access the ballast and supply wires.
3. Using the appropriate rated wiring connectors attach the line (black
leads) and neutral (white leads) of the male side of the disconnect
to the appropriate ballast leads (see Figure 1). The male side of the
luminaire disconnect is marked “load”. For 3-pole luminaire
disconnects with a third colored wire lead set, attach the male side
colored wire lead to the appropriate ballast lead.
4. Using the appropriate rated wiring connectors attach the line (black
leads) and neutral (white leads) of the female side of the disconnect
to the appropriate incoming supply leads (see Figure 1). The female
side of the luminaire disconnect is marked “line”. For 3-pole
luminaire disconnects with a third colored wire lead set, attach the
female side colored wire lead to the appropriate incoming lead.
5. Before mating the two halves, ensure a positive latch by pressing
the latching member on the female side down and then releasing it
(see Figure 2). Mate the male and female halves together. The
latch will make an audible click indicating a positive latch.
6. Reinstall any access covers and lamps.
7. Energize the circuit and conrm the luminaire is functional.
To unmate the disconnect, grip the top and bottom surfaces of both
halves with your thumbs on the latch side and index ngers on the
opposite side. Push the latch up with your thumb and then pull the
two halves apart (see Figure 3). Do not use the wires as a means of
pulling the two halves apart.
