Operation
Figure 3-6. Microphone Input Selected
The microphone gain may be set to 0 dB, 6 dB, or 12 dB. A microphone bias
voltage can also be generated by the TSC2301; checking the Mic Bias On
checkbox enables this feature. Note that to use this feature, JMP4 must be set
to positions 2-3.
3.4.4.2 DAC Section
Like the ADC section, the TSC2301 audio DAC can be powered on or off.
Volume controls work the same as in the ADC section. Two digital filters are
provided by the TSC2301 for the audio DAC. Checking the Deemphasis On
checkbox enables a deemphasis filter.
Checking the Filter On checkbox enables what the TSC2301 datasheet
describes as the Bass Boost Filter—however, this filter is user programmable
and so may be used for more than just bass boosting. See the Bass Boost
Filter section for more details. A label below this checkbox informs you which
filter function is currently loaded into the TSC2301.
3.4.4.3 Bypass Section
The TSC2301’s analog bypass circuitry is controlled in this part of the screen,
in a similar fashion as done for the ADC and DAC. Note that the audio output
of the TSC2301 includes a mix of the DAC and the bypass channels, in
proportion to their respective volume settings.
3.4.4.4 Output Section
The headphone amplifier of the TSC2301 can be powered on or off using the
Headphone Amp Enable checkbox. The VCM of the TSC2301 (see the data
sheet for details of this function) can also be turned on or off in this section.
