FirstOCVandImpedanceMeasurement
Atpower-uptheBAT_LOW/BAT_GDpinisinactive,sothatthesystemcannotobtainpowerfromthebattery
(thisdependsonactualimplementation).Inthisstate,thebatteryisputinanopen-circuitcondition.Next,the
bq27510measuresitsfirstopen-circuitvoltage(OCV)viatheBATpin.FromtheOCV(SOC)table,theSOCof
theinsertedbatteryisfound.ThentheBAT_LOW/BAT_GDpinismadeactive,andtheimpedanceofthe
insertedbatteryiscalculatedfromthemeasuredvoltageandtheloadcurrent:Z(SOC)=(OCV(SOC)–V)/I.
Thisimpedanceiscomparedwiththeimpedanceofthedynamicprofiles,Packn,andthedefaultprofiles,Defn,
forthesameSOC(theletterndepictseithera0or1).
TheApplicationStatusdataflashlocationcontainscellprofilestatusinformation,andcanbereadusingthe
ApplicationStatus()ExtendedCommand(0x6a).Thebitconfigurationofthisfunction/locationisshownin

Thebq27510supportsonlyonetypeofbatteryprofile.ThisprofileisstoredinboththeDef0andDef1profiles.
TheDefnandPacknprofilesarethesameonthefirstgaugestart-up.ThentheImpedanceTrack™algorithm
beginsgasgauging,regularlyupdatingPacknasthebatteryisused.
Whenanexistingpackisremovedfromthebq27510andadifferent(orsame)packisinserted,cellimpedance
willbemeasuredimmediatelyafterbatterydetection.Thebq27510choosestheprofilewhichisclosesttothe
measuredimpedance,startingwiththePacknprofiles.Thatis,ifthemeasuredimpedancematchesPack0,then
thePack0profileisused.IfthemeasuredimpedancematchesPack1,thenthePack1profileisused.Ifthe
measuredimpedancedoesnotmatchtheimpedancestoredineitherPack0orPack1,thebatterypackis
deemednew(noneofthepreviouslyusedpacks).TheDef0/Def1profileiscopiedintoeitherthePack0orPack1
profile,overwritingtheoldestPacknprofileused.
