Hardware installation Installing the card Before installing the sound card in your computer, please note the details of your computer's configuration. Also refer to the manual of your computer and other expansion cards for their settings. Please observe the following instructions to ensure a trouble-free installation. If you are still having problems, please call our service hotline. The telephone number and operating hours of the hotline are on the included customer service card.
And here’s what to do, step by step: • Switch off your PC and all connected peripheral devices such as your printer and monitor. Leave the AC power cable connected for the time being, so that your computer is still grounded. • Touch the metal chassis at the rear of the PC to ground and to discharge static. Now unplug the cord from the AC socket. • Remove the cover from the case of your PC.
Connecting a speaker system to your sound card You can connect any commercially available active speaker system to your Aureon 7.1 PCI sound card. Ensure that the front port (3) is configured as “Line” using JP1. After installing the drivers and software, select the correct speaker configuration in the Aureon 7.1 PCI Control Panel. Installing the drivers and Control Panel After the computer restarts, you're logged in as administrator and Windows XP detects the new hardware using the Add New Hardware Wizard, the following window displays. Cancel the installation at this point by clicking “Cancel”. Insert the Aureon 7.1 PCI Software CD into your CD/DVD drive. If the installation wizard does not start automatically, run :\Autorun.exe manually.
The Aureon 7.1 PCI Control Panel Master You can adjust the volume of each individual speaker here. If they didn't exist only on your computer screen, the faders marked “Front” would probably become worn from frequent use– they are used to the adjust the volume of the two front speakers. The master fader controls the sum of all outputs and can also be silenced by clicking the MUTE button. Sources You can adjust the level of each individual signal source here.
Record In the “Record” window, you can set the signal source for a recording and its gain. The “Mix” button allows you to record all analog sources at the same time. S/PDIF is a digital signal that does not allow gain control. Speakers Set the speaker configuration you want to use here. You can activate every single speaker individually here to test it for correct wiring and function. If you click on a speaker to activate it, you will hear static from that speaker.
Digital Output You can enable or disable the digital output using the “Enable” button. The digital output can be enabled in “Stereo speakers” or “Headphones” mode only. You can also select the sampling frequency you want to work with. Dolby Digital Live!™ Encoding function Click the “Dolby Digital 5.1” button to enable real-time Dolby Digital™ encoding. This function disables all analog outputs of the sound card.
Equalizer Using the integrated equalizer, you can increase or attenuate audio signals in 10 frequency bands to emphasize bass or treble. You can choose from a wide variety of presets to improve audio reproduction for most standard situations. If you have modified the settings yourself, you can do the following: Add – Save them as a new preset Save – Save them to the selected preset You can delete the setups you have defined by clicking “Delete”.
Effect You can use the effect settings to control overall reproduction and enable special microphone effects for Karaoke. Have fun trying out the soundsets ☺. Misc. Presets You can save the settings configured in the control panel as profiles and load the profiles. Color setup You can set the colors of the control panel to your taste here. SoundSystem Aureon 7.
Show Taskbar Icon When this is enabled, the Control Panel icon of your sound card appears in the taskbar. Language You can also change the display language of the Control Panel using the drop-down menu. About This window shows the driver and control panel version installed on your computer.
