Instruments
1. Tachometer/Hourmeter - Driven
from the alternator, the tachometer
indicates the number of engine
crankshaft revolutions per minute. The
needle shows the variations in engine
operating speed. Never accelerate the
engine to speeds indicated by the red
zone on the dial face. A digital
hourmeter is incorporated in the
tachometer to record total hours of
engine operation. The readings can
be used for operating and service
records.
2. Transmission Oil Temperature
Gauge - Indicates transmission oil
operating temperature. This gauge
should read in the green zone during
normal operation and may read in the
yellow zone during use of the retarder.
If the needle rises into the red zone,
stop engine and investigate the cause.
3. Speedometer/Odometer - Driven
by a signal from the ECU, the
speedometer indicates travel speed in
kilometres per hour and miles per
hour. A digital odometer is
incorporated in the speedometer to
record the distance travelled by the
vehicle at any given time.
