2. Quick guide for first use
Making your first call

With the telephone switched off, insert a valid SIM card (see “Installation of the SIM
card”).

Insert the battery (see “Installing and removing the battery”).
O
Charge the battery by connecting the telephone to the battery charger.
The telephone can be used while it is being recharged but this will prolong charging time.

Switch the telephone on by holding the o key down which is situated below the flip. If
the telephone displays PIN

, enter the PIN code provided with the SIM card and press

The telephone automatically sets the text language according to the information con-
tained on the SIM card.
To change the language used on the display press

in sequence. Scroll the
languages available using the

key and confirm the new language by pressing

To change the connection mode between the GSM network and the Globalstar satellite
network, hold the

key down.
NOTE: The negative symbols (e.g.
) appears on the lower part of the display.

If the PIN code has been inserted correctly the display will show:

W hen the name of the network operator that provided the SIM card appears on the
display, the telephone is ready to use, and it is possible to make or receive phone calls.
To make a call, enter the area code and the telephone number and press
,
. The dis-
play will read Call and the symbol

will appear.
When the call is answered the display will read Connected for a few seconds and then
the duration of the call will be indicated.
When using satellite mode, the telephone number must be dialled in its international for-
mat:
+ [country code] [area code] [telephone number]
