3.3.2 Using a Dynamic IP Address
1. TouseaDHCPnetwork,makesurethatthehostmachineconnectstoaDHCP
network,thenconnecttheEthernetportontheAnalyzertotheDHCPnetwork.
Note:IftheDHCPnetworkusesaFirewall,youmustsettheFirewalltoallowtheAnalyzerdeviceon
thenetwork.See“AllowUSBProtocolSuiteThroughLocalFirewall”onpage 121.
Note:DirectconnectionfromtheEthernetportonthehostmachinetotheEthernetportonthe

2. Turnonthepowerswitch.
Note:Atpower‐on,theAnalyzerinitializesitselfinapproximatelytensecondsandperformsan
exhaustiveself‐diagnosticthatlastsaboutfiveseconds.Ifthediagnosticsfail,callTeledyne
LeCroy.
3. CompleteAnalyzersetupinthe“ApplicationStartup”section(See“Application
Startup”onpage146).
WARNING:DonotchangefromUSBtoEthernet,orback,withoutcyclingtotheAnalyzer’spower.
Note:DisconnectionofUSBorEthernetduringcaptureoruploadingoftracedataisnotsupported,
andmaycausethesoftwaretomalfunctionorcrash.
3.3.3 Firewall Exceptions
TheinstallerprovidestheoptiontosetWindowsFirewallexceptionstoenable
fullcommunicationbetweenUSBProtocolSuiteandnetwork‐attachedanalyz‐
ers.
TheinstalleronlysetssuchexceptionsforPrivateandDomainnetworks.For
securityreasons,theinstallerwillnotmodifyfirewallsettingsforPublicnet‐
works.
IfthenetworkyouuseisPublic,theneithersetitasPrivateorDomain,orman‐
uallyaddaFirewallexceptiontoallowUSBProtocolSuitetoaccessallTCP/UDP
ports.Youmayneedtocontactyournetworkadministratorforhelpwithconfig‐
uringtheFirewall.
Theinstallerdoesnotsetexceptionsforany3rd‐partyfirewalls.Contactyour
networkadministratorforhelpwithsettingexceptionsthatallowUSBProtocol
SuitetoaccessallTCP/UDPports.
