3.3 Setting Up the Analyzer - Ethernet Connection
TosetupanAnalyzerusinganEthernetconnection:
1. ConnecttheprovidedACpowercordtotherearoftheVoyagerM3/M3iandtoa
100‐voltto240‐volt,50‐Hzto60‐Hz,200‐Wpoweroutletorattachtheappropriate
DCadapterforyouranalyzer.
Note:TheAnalyzeriscapableofsupportingsupplyvoltagesbetween100voltsand240volts,50Hzor
60Hz,thussupportingallsupplyvoltagesaroundtheworld.
2. InserttheInstallationDVD.
3. Atthispointyoucanconnectfromyourhostmachinetotheanalyzerusingeithera
StaticIPAddress(usingaStaticIPAddressishelpfulifyouareplanningtoattachthe
analyzertoyourlocalPCandwanttousetheethernetconnection)oraDynamicIP
addressifyouareonanetwork.Thestepsforeachmethodaredescribedbelow.
3.3.1 Using a Static IP Address
Insomecases,youmightfinditdesirabletouseadirectEthernetconnectionfromyou
AnalyzerPCtotheUSBAnalyzer.Onereasonmightbethatyouwantthemseparatedby
morethan1meter,whichisthetypicalUSBcablelength.Oryoumightnothavea
USB 3.1(5Gbps)portonyourHostPC,soEthernetwouldbefasterthanUSB2.0
transfers.
Tomakethisconnection,itisrequiredthatyousettheStaticIPAddressonyouPC,then
useaUSBcable(temporarily)tosetaStaticIPaddressonyourUSBAnalyzer.Afterthisis
done,youcandoadirectEthernetconnectionfromyourPCtotheAnalyzer.
Setting a Static IP Address on your PC
1. TouseaStaticIPaddress,firstsetupyourcomputersIPaddresstoaStaticIP
Address.StartbyopeningyourControlPanel(Start‐>WindowsSystem‐>Control
Panel)andselectingtheNetworkandSharingCentericon.(SeeFigure 3.28on
page 133).
