11.6.1 Creating a Traffic Generation File with the Export Command
TheExportcommandoffersaneasyalternativemethodofcreatingageneratorfile.This
commandconvertsthetracetoa*.utgfile,removesalldevicetraffic,andleavesonlythe
trafficfromthehostdevice.Youcanthenusethisfiletoemulatethehostanddetermine
whetherthedeviceundertestisgeneratingthecorrecttraffic.
Whencreatinga.utgfilethroughtheExportPacketstoText(GeneratorTextFileFormat)
menuselection,itissuggestedthatyouusethedefaultvaluespresented.AddingNAK
transactionscluttersthe.utgfile,andincludingthedevicesidepacketscreatesa.utgfile
whichdoesnotworkwitharealdeviceattached.
TousetheExportcommand:
1. Starttheapplication.
2. Openatracethathasthepatternoftrafficthatyouwouldliketogenerate.
3. SelectFile>ExportfromthemenubartodisplaytheFileExportmenu:

4. SelectPacketstoHostTrafficGeneratorTextFilefromtheExportdrop‐downmenu.
