Built-on the Award Winning MSO4000B Series of Mixed
Signal Oscilloscopes
The MDO4000 Series provides you w ith the same comprehensive
set of features available in the MSO4000B Mixed S ignal Oscilloscope
Series. This robust set of tools w ill help you speed through every stage
of debug
ging your design from quickly discovering an anomaly and
capturing it, to searching your waveform record for the event and analyzing
its characteristics and your device's behavior.
Discover
To debug a design problem, rst you must know it exists. Every
design engineer spends time looking f or problems in their design, a
time-consuming and frustrating task without the right debug tools.
The MDO4 000 Series offers the industry's most complete visualization of
signals, providing fast insight into the real operation of your device. A fast
waveform capture rate greater than 50,000 waveforms per second
enable
s you to see glitches and oth er infrequent transients within seconds,
revealing the true nature of device faults. A digital phosphor display with
intensity grading shows the history of a signal's activity by intensifying areas
of the signal tha t occur more frequently, providing a visual d isplay of just
how often anomalies occur.
Capture –T
riggering on a specic transmit data packet going across a SPI bus. A
complete s
et of triggers, including triggers for specic serial packet content, ensures you
quickly ca
pture your event of interest.
Capture
Discovering a device fault is only the rst step. Next, you must capture the
event of interest to identify root cause .
Accurately capturing an y signal of interest b egins with proper probing. The
MDO4000 Series includes four low-capacitance probes for accurate signal
capture. These industry-rst high-impedance passive voltage probes have
less than 4 pF of capacitive loading to minimize the affect of the probe on
your circuit's operation, offering the pe rformance of an active probe with the
exibili
ty of a passive probe.
The MDO4000 Series provides a complete s et of triggers including Runt,
Timeout
, Logic, Pulse Width/Glitch, Setup/Ho ld Violation, Serial Packet, and
ParallelData–tohelpquicklynd your event. With up to a 20M point record
length, you can capture many events o f interest, even thousands of se rial
packets, in a single acquisition for further analysis while maintaining high
resolution to zoom in on ne signal details.
From triggering on specic packet co ntent to automatic decode in multiple
data formats, t he MDO4000 Series provides integrated support for the
industry's broadest range of serial buses I

C, SPI, USB, Ethernet, CAN,
LIN, Fle
xRay, RS-232/422/485/UART, MIL-STD-1553, and I

S/LJ/RJ/TDM.
The ability to decode up to four serial and/or pa rallel buses simultaneously
means you gain insight into syste m-level problems quickly.
To further help troubleshoot syst em-level interactions in complex e mbedded
systems, the MDO4000 Series offers 16 d igital cha nnels. The Ma gniVu™
high-speed acquisition on these channels ena bles you to acquire ne
signal detail (up to 60.6 ps resolution) around the trigger point for
precision measuremen ts. MagniVu is e s sential for making accurate timing
measur
ements for s etu p and hold, clock delay, signal skew, and glitch
characterization.
