FieldPilot® Installation If there are questions concerning the installation of the FieldPilot system on this vehicle, or due to the changes in component specifications the parts supplied in the kit are not exactly as presented in this document, please contact your dealer or TeeJet Customer service representative for clarification before installation. TeeJet Technologies is not responsible for misuse or incorrect installation of the system.
FieldPilot® The Ford Versatile 946 has an open center steering orbital. The pressure relief valve on the steering circuit is mounted on the lower left side of the engine. Remove the hose between Pressure Relief Valve and the Orbital and discard. Oil leaving the Pressure Relief Valve will be routed to the FieldPilot Valve P port and then from the FieldPilot Valve EF port to the P port of the Orbital.
FieldPilot® 2. Install the FieldPilot Valve Bracket The valve bracket will mount to the left fender of the vehicle. Drill a 13/32” hole 21” from outer edge of fender and centered top to bottom. Mount the (I) bracket to the fender using (1) (G) 3/8” bolt, (1) (H) 3/8 nut and (2) (B) 3/8” washers. Figure 1-5: Install Mounting Bracket for FieldPilot Valve 3. Mount the FieldPilot Valve Mount the FieldPilot Valve to the (I) bracket using parts (B, F, & H).
FieldPilot® 4. Prepare Orbital Valve Before installing any hoses, disconnect and discard the Pressure hose between the Pressure Relief Valve and the Orbital P port. Disconnect the Tank hose from the T port of the orbital and install the (R) #16 Run Tee to this port. Connect the (Q) adaptor fitting to the branch of the Tee. Reconnect the Tank hose to the run of the Tee. Disconnect the hose from the L port. Install (O) #10 Run Tee to this port. Reconnect the hose to the run of the Tee.
FieldPilot® 5. Install Pressure Hose The FieldPilot Valve will get its pressure from the Pressure Relief Valve. Attach the straight end of hose (J) to the Pressure Relief Valve and route it to the P port of the FieldPilot Valve. Figure 1-8: Install Pressure Hose J J 6. Install the EF Hose Oil will exit the FieldPilot valve through the EF port to the orbital. Route the 90° end of the hose (K) to the P port on the orbital. Connect the straight end of the hose (K) to the EF port on the FieldPilot valve.
FieldPilot® 7. Install the Tank hose Route the 90° end of hose (L) to adapter (S) previously installed in the T port on the orbital. Connect the straight end of the (L) hose to the T port of the FieldPilot Valve. Figure 1-10: Install the Tank hose L L 8. Install Left and right steer hoses The steer hoses will connect to the Run Tees installed at the orbital. In Step 4, the left and right steer hoses were disconnected, Run Tees were installed, and the hoses were reconnected.
FieldPilot® 9. Install Steering Disengage Switch (Kit 91-07011) The steering disengage kit (T) is used to automatically disengage FieldPilot when the steering wheel is turned. The magnets mount on the steering shaft or other rotating part of the steering wheel and the sensor mounts so that there is a 1/8” clearance between the sensor and magnet. (Pictures: 0228, 0232) Figure 1-12: Install Steering Disengage Switch (Kit 91-07011) 14 www.teejet.
FieldPilot® 10. Installation of Engage/Disengage Switch Connect item (A) to the connector on the SCM harness labeled Remote Engage/Disengage. Install the push button in a location that is easily accessible during operation of the machine. This switch (A) is not required if the optional foot switch 32-04020 is used. Figure 1-13: Engage/Disengage Switch 11. Install the valve control cable Connect the FieldPilot valve control cable (E) to the coils on the FieldPilot valve and route the cable into the cab.
FieldPilot® 12. RECOMMENDED ELECTRONICS INSTALLATION The Steering Control Module (SCM) should be mounted securely to the floor of the cab as far forward in the cab as possible. The control console can be mounted to the operator’s preference. The GPS antenna should be mounted as far forward as possible on top of the hood on a metal surface of at least 4” square. The Articulated Gyro Module (AGM) should be mounted towards the rear of the vehicle on a flat surface that is horizontal to the ground.
FieldPilot® 13. V ERIFY OPERATION OF HYDRAULICS AND SET THE STEERING CONTROL RATE Clean and pick up the area around the vehicle and make certain that it is safe to operate. Start the engine and check hydraulic connections for leaks. Rotate the steering wheel from one extreme to the other and back to center, check for leaks. While steering through the extremes of movement, check the cables and hoses for wear points and strain, adjust as necessary.
Fieldpilot® U s e r M A N U A L A series of equipment-specific hydraulic installation kits have been developed to work in conjunction with your assisted steering system.
