Aspect Ratio Selection Guides
When selecting a region before recording a video capture, guides are pro-
vided to help you create a video with common aspect ratios and dimen-
sions.
The aspect ratio of a video recording is a comparison of the height and
width of the recording. For instance, most wide-screen laptops have an
aspect ratio of 16:9.īThat means that for every 16 pixels wide the screen
is, there are a corresponding 9 pixels in height.
This matters because most video hosting destinations have a fixed
aspect ratio. If you want your video capture to match those dimensions,
using the selection guides during the region selection process can help.
Press <G> on your keyboard during the capture process to toggle the preset selection guides
on and off.
Hold <CTRL> to lock your region selection to the 4:3 aspect ratio.
Hold <SHIFT> to lock your region selection to the 16:9 aspect ratio.
