the item “Remove a Daisy Online service” to remove a Daisy Online account and delete all
associated books from the Trek.
6.17 Updating maps
Here you can choose to add or remove maps from your Trek’s internal memory. Maps are divided
in 3 levels: Map Package, Country, and Region. Use the arrow keys to select the different items of
a map level. Use buttons 2 and 8 to jump to a different map level.
Level 1 (Map Package): You will have a single map package installed by default depending on
where you purchased your Trek. Map Package is the most general map level, often spanning entire
continents (North America, Europe, Africa, Oceania). Use the arrow keys to scroll through the
available Map Packages, then press the Bookmark key to select or deselect a Map Package.
Additional map packages can be purchased from www.humanware.com.
Level 2 (Country): Countries included in the selected Map Package will be listed here. Use the
arrow keys to scroll through the available countries, then press the Bookmark key to select or
deselect a country.
Level 3 (Region): Region is the smallest map level, and often covers provinces or states within a
country. All regions included in the selected country map will be listed here. Use the arrow keys to
scroll through the available regions, then press the Bookmark key to select or deselect a region.
When you are done selecting your maps, press the Confirm key to accept your changes or the
Cancel key to discard them and leave the menu. After pressing the Confirm key, your newly
selected maps will be downloaded and installed, whereas deselected maps will be deleted, freeing
some internal disk space.
Trek maps are very large and detailed, so they can take up to a few hours to download.
Accordingly, make sure you have enough data left on your internet plan before downloading new
maps to avoid extra data fees.
Note that your Trek will close after updating maps.
6.18 Software Updates
The Software Updates menu contains two items: “Automatic check for updates” and “Check for
updates now”. By default, the Trek will automatically check for any available update the first time
the Online bookcase is accessed. If you select the item “Check for updates now”, the Trek will
immediately check for any available updates. This item can be used multiple times even if the
“Automatic check for updates” item has already been used once. If the “Automatic check for
updates” is set to Off, it is necessary to use the “Check for updates now” item to check for
updates as the Trek will not do so automatically.
When Check for Updates is on, Trek will also check to see if there are map updates available for
your installed maps.
