5. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Substrate Preparation
All surfaces must be smooth, structurally sound, clean, dry, and free from any oil,
wax, grease, sealer, waterproofing compounds, or from contaminants that would
interfere with bonding, including adhesives. Fill all cracks and depressions with
a quality patching compound. For best results, the area to be installed, adhesive
and flooring should be conditioned at 65°F and at a maximum relative humidity of
65% for at least 48 hours before and after installation.
Note: When applying carpet or vinyl floor goods to metal substrates, the metal
must be coated with a primer (recommended for use on metal) compatible with
the adhesive to provide adequate bonding. CAUTION! Adhesive applied to a bare
metal surface can cause rapid oxidation or other chemical reaction.
Moisture/Alkalinity Test - All concrete floors should be tested for moisture
emission rate by utilizing an anhydrous calcium chloride moisture test kit.
Moisture test results should meet the flooring manufacture recommendations,
but should not exceed 5 lbs. per 1000 ft
2
per 24 hours when using the anhydrous
calcium chloride test. If you are using a Relative Humidity (RH) test with In Situ
Probes the test results should not exceed 78% RH. When testing for alkalinity the
pH range should be 7-9.
