5. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Mixing
All tiling materials, room and product should be kept at 60-90°F (16-32°C) for
24 hours before, during and after application. All materials and equipment used in
mixing AccuColor EFX
®
Epoxy Grout must be clean and dry. Wear rubber gloves to
avoid skin contact. Separately stir individual containers of Part A and Part B prior
to blending together, using a different paddle to stir each component.
Pour Part A and Part B into the mixing pail provided with this kit, scraping all
material from each container. Blend thoroughly with a low speed mixer
(not to exceed 300 rpm) to avoid entraining air for a minimum of 3 minutes.
Continue mixing and slowly add the dry powder Part C. Use entire quantity of
Part C for use as a wall grout.
If easier workability is desired for floor installations, use less Part C.
For 3 Gallon (11.35 L) Kit, use up to 1 quart (.95 L) less of Part C.
For 1.5 Gallon (5.68 L) Kit, use up to ½ quart (.47 L) less of Part C.
Application
Apply mortar using the flat side of trowel to promote better substrate contact.
Then, using the appropriate notched trowel, comb the mortar uniformly in a
ridged pattern. Spread only an area that can be tiled in 20 to 30 minutes (or while
surface is still tacky). Press, twist and beat tiles into setting bed to promote a
good bond. Apply mortar in a heavy enough layer so that complete contact (no
voids) between adhesive and tile is accomplished when tile is positioned. Keep a
minimum of

of the joint depth available for grouting.
Remove any excess mortar squeezed out of grout joints, on face of tile, within
5 minutes with a clean sponge and water. Remove spacers, if used. For additional
information, refer to ANSI A108.6 installation details. Average working time of
AccuColor EFX

Epoxy Grout is 1-2 hours.
Clean-up
Clean tools, hands, and excess materials from face of tile, while mortar is still
fresh, with warm soapy water.
Curing
Grouting may be accomplished when tiles are held firmly in place, typically
10 to 14 hours after installation is completed. No traffic is permitted over the
tiles prior to grouting. The use of TEC
®
brand grouts is highly recommended.
