Connecting to a PC z Never disconnect the player from PC during downloading, uploading and formatting to avoid failures and losses of data. z When the player is used as removable disk, please follow strictly the given file download and upload procedures. Before Using This player is plug & play for WIN2000/XP/ME/Vista OS. Connect to a PC and Download Audio Files To connect the player with the PC for transferring files: 1. Make sure that your computer has been started before you start. 2. Plug the larger end of the USB cable to the USB port of the PC, and plug the smaller end to the USB port of the player. 3.
Charging the Battery The device has a rechargeable built-in polymer ion battery. It is charged via USB connection. You are required to charge it when you use it for the first time. To charge the battery, connect the larger end of the USB cable to the USB interface of PC, and connect the other smaller end of the USB cable to the USB interface of this player. The device is connected to PC and being charged.

Using the Touch Screen The player can be used either with its keys or with its touch screen. The icons on the touch screen can be touched with a finger or with a pen. Power On/Off Make sure the battery is sufficient and the headphone is connected correctly. TM Using microSD Card Slot After connecting the player to the computer, you will find two portable devices. One is the built-in memory device and the other one is the device associated to the microSDTM card. It enables you adding up to 8GB of additional memory to your player. The player supports direct playing of songs/videos on microSDTM cards. Insert the microSDTM card into the card slot k with the metallic contacts facing towards the backside of the player.
Main Menu The main menu offers eight functions: MUSIC, MOVIE, PHOTO, TEXT, RADIO, RECORD, UTILITY, SETUP. The ◄/► button allows to navigate to the desired function. Pressing activates it. Or you touch functions directly by finger or pen. Pressing (maybe several times) brings you back into main menu. The same result brings touching (also sometimes several times) of Listening to Music Select "MUSIC" in the main menu. The media library appears. Activate the respective functions by touching it.

How to upgrade firmware Important: z We like you to take into consideration that upgrading firmware always can be risky. z So the upgrade or recovery function should be used only, if there is noticeable malfunction. z Upgrading or recovery can be performed in one of two ways: – Either by copying firmware to the root directory of the player, followed by starting the process with the respective menu option. – Or aided by the recovery tool contained on the provided CD.
II. Recovery of the Player Using the Rockchip Recovery Tool on the CD 1. Connect the player to the PC. 2. Open the folder “Recovery Tool” on the provided CD 3. Execute the file “RK27DM_Setup.exe” to install the recovery tool on your PC. 4. Start the installed recovery tool. 5. The recovery tool is started. The player is recognized auto- matically Please select the firmware file “MP-580.RKW” 6. Press “Restore” button.
7. The hardware assistant which looks for new hardware opens. The recovery driver for recovering players with a Rockchip chipset is located in the folder “Rk27 Driver” on the provided CD. 8. Please follow the instructions on the screen, which were given by the hardware assistant for installation of the recovery driver.
9. After the installation of the driver is finished, you have to confirm the following messages with “Yes” to be able to proceed. The recovery of the player is started immediately after the last confirmation. Caution: Please backup your data before starting the recovery process! 10. The recovery of the player is finished. Now you can disconnect it from the PC. Note z Be sure to check battery is enough energy before upgrading. z Do not turn off the player while upgrading.
