Before Using Driver Windows2000/XP/ME/Vista This player is plug & play for WIN2000/XP/ME/Vista OS. Windows98/SE For Windows98/SE, you are required to install a driver (available from TEAC by request) before connection. Connect to a PC and download audio files To connect the player with the PC for transferring files: 1. Plug the larger end of the USB cable to the USB port of the PC, and plug the smaller end to the USB port of the player. 2.
Charging the battery The unit is equipped with a rechargeable Lithium Polymer battery. If the icon is displayed the battery has to be charged. Please charge the player with the provided USB cable at the PC or use a charging unit (optionally available from TEAC). 1. Charging with a charging unit (optionally available from TEAC): Connect the player to the charging unit. 2. Charging with a PC: Switch the player on.

Switching On/Off Switching On: Move the On/Off slider c shortly to the right (downwards) and release it. Switching Off: Move the On/Off slider c to the right (downwards) until the shut off picture appears. Key Lock To lock the keys please move the HOLD key c to the left (in the direction of the arrow) until it locks. If a key is pressed, a locking symbol is shown on the display. To unlock the keys the HOLD key c has to be moved to the middle position.

Shortly press while in music, video, text or picture viewer mode to get into folder navigation mode. 2. Press or to select a certain folder or file.
Playing Music Enter the Music Mode Press and hold until the main menu is displayed. Select with or “Music” and confirm with . Now you are in music mode. Proceed as described in the section “Basic Operation”. Lyrics The player supports MP3 lyrics display. It has to be set in [Display] Î [Song Title] Î [Lyric].
Converting and Playing Video Files (Windows Vista coming soon) Please ensure that downloaded video files are used in an AVI format which can be processed by the player. Use in case the converting program on the provided driver CD. In the following, you will find a description how to use the tool. Installing the AVI Converter 1. Insert the provided CD in your CDROM drive and start “NxvConverter4.12_Install.exe” and click on [Next >]. 2. If the K-Lite Codec Pack is not installed you should do this now.
3. After starting the installation routine you have to click on [Install]. Please wait until the installation is ready. 4. Click on [Finish] to finish the installation.
Converting Video Files 1. Please run the program “NxvConverter”. 2. 3. 4. 5. Click on “Add …” to open the window “Select input files…”. Select the file(s) you like to convert. Repeat the steps 2 and 3 if you like to convert further files. Input the target path for the converted file in the field “Change Output …”. 6. FM Radio Important: Earphone cable serves as an extended antenna, so please keep it plugged in. Select “Radio” in the main menu. Then press to start the FM radio. Short pressing of allows to toggle between the modes PRESET and SCAN. PRESET Mode Press while being in PRESET mode. This starts automatic searching and storing of found radio stations with a good reception frequency. Shortly press or to select the previous/next stored radio station.
Voice Recording Recording 1. Press and hold until the main menu is displayed. 2. Select “Record” and press to get into the recording mode. 3. Short pressing of A-B. starts the recording. Pressing A-B shortly pauses and resumes the recording. 4. If A-B is pressed longer, the recording is saved and a new recording is started immediately. 5. Press and hold longer than a second if you like to save the record and to go back into the main menu.
Installing of the Picture Converter Program 1. Insert the provided CD in your CDROM drive, “NxPhoto_JPG1.0.1_Install.exe” and click on [Next >]. start 2. After starting the installation routine you have to click on [Install]. Please wait until the installation is ready. 3. Click on [Finish] to finish the installation.
Converting an Image File Start the program “NxPhoto” and select the file you like to convert. Ensure that the field “LCD Size” is set to a working resolution of 320 x 240. The selected file is listed in the window on the lower left side. The conversion is started by clicking on . If “Same location with original file” is checked the converted file will be saved in the same folder as the original file (the file name gets the prefix “NX_”).
Reading an E-book 1. Press and hold until the main menu is displayed. 2. Select “E-Book” and confirm with . 3. Select with or a .txt file and confirm the selection with . 4. Press or to scroll through the text file. Press A-B to scroll automatically page by page (setting AUTO). Pressing A-B again stops automatic page scrolling. Note: Some TXT files may not be read. This may happen because its format is not supported. Skip it or use another file.
Customized Settings To customize the player settings: 1. In the main menu, select the “Setting” item and press to enter the system settings mode. 2. Press or to select setting item. Confirm with . Pressing the key brings you one level up into the next menu.

Firmware Upgrade Before using this function, please first backup all data in the player. Confirm that the BATTERY charge is sufficient. Otherwise, the firmware and the file system (FAT) may be damaged. Please proceed as follows: 1. Connect the player to the computer. 2. Create the new folder “FIRM_UP” in the root folder of the player. 3. Copy FIRMWARE.BIN file to the FIRM_UP folder. 4.
