Output Over Voltage Protection
The output over-voltageprotection consists of an output Zenerdiode that monitors the voltage on the output
terminals. If the voltage onthe output terminalsexceedstheover-voltage protection threshold, thenthe Zener diode
clamps the outputvoltage.
Short Circuit Protection
Continuous, hiccupand auto-recoverymode.
Duringa shortcircuitthe converter shuts down. The averagecurrentduringthiscondition willbe verylow.
Thermal Consideration
The converteroperatesin a variety of thermal environments. However, sufficientcoolingshouldbe providedto help
ensurereliableoperation of the unit. Heatis removedby conduction, convection, and radiation to thesurrounding
environment. Proper cooling can be verified by measuringthepoint asshown in the figure below. The temperature at this
location should not exceed 100°C.When operating, adequate cooling mustbe provided to maintainthe testpoint
temperature at or below100°C.Although themaximumpoint temperatureof the powermoduleis 100°C, limiting this
temperature to a lowervalue will increase the reliability of the unit.
