Output Over Voltage Protection
The output over-voltage protectionconsists of an output Zener diode that monitors the voltage on the output
terminals. If thevoltage on the output terminalsexceeds the over-voltageprotection threshold, then the Zener diode
clamps the output voltage.
Short Circuitry Protection
Continuous, hiccup and auto-recovery mode.
During a short circuit condition the converter will shut down. The average current during this condition will be very
low.
Thermal Consideration
The converter operates in a variety of thermal environments. However, s
ufficient cooling should be providedto help
ensure reliable operation of the unit. Heat is removed by conduction, convection, and radiation to the surrounding
environment. Proper cooling can be verified by measuring the point as shown inthe figure below. The temperature at
this location shouldnot exceed 100°C. When operating, adequate cooling mustbe provided to maintain the test point
temperature at or below 100°C.Althoughthe maximum point temperature of the converter is10C, limiting this
temperature to a lower value will yield higher reliability.
