introduced its
TonePrint pedals
the idea was that well-known
guitarists could create their
own signature sounds that you
could load into the pedal and
use. John Petrucci was one of
the first to get involved with
this and created TonePrints for
the Corona Chorus, Shaker
Vibrato and the Vortex Flanger.
Now, while the TonePrints are
freely available for anyone who
owns the pedals, it’s clear that
any John Petrucci fan wanting
access to them all would have
had to buy three separate
pedals (£109 each). To ease the
burden, TC has brought out The
Dreamscape – a John Petrucci
signature pedal that offers a
range of Petrucci-designed
chorus, vibrato and flanger
sounds in a single stompbox.
Finished in a fetching
metallic turquoise with
chromed knobs, The
Dreamscape features battery or
9V DC adapter operation,
stereo connectivity should you
want it and knobs to control the
speed and depth of the effect
and its level – from a completely
dry sound to fully-effected. The
exception is the vibrato, which
a totally wet effect, so the knob
instead goes from zero volume
to full. The actual effect is
selected from a rotary knob
with seven positions – two
choruses, two f langers and two
vibratos plus a TonePrint
setting that allows you to load
in any of the TonePrints that
are available for the Corona
Chorus. An additional
three-way switch sets the
nature of the effect from a
choice of bright (in your face),
or normal and dark (more
subtle). Like other TonePrint
pedals there are two internal
dipswitches – one for setting
buffered bypass instead of the
default true bypass mode,
the other to remove the dry
signal from the pedal’s output
when it is used in a parallel
effects loop.
Sounds
The sounds are split into two
groups: chorus one, flanger one
and vibrato one are optimised
for use with clean sounds; and
chorus two, flanger two and
vibrato two are intended for use
with crunch sounds. Chorus
A rotary knob is used to select choruses, flangers, vibratos and other effects
