Interfaces
Your printer offers the possibility of operating either via a parallel, a
serial or a USB interface. There is also a printer model with a second
serial interface. This chapter informs you about the interfaces and
describes the communication between your computer and the printer.
Interface settings for
User 1 and User 2
Your printer allows you to set and use two independent menu
configurations for the selection of the interfaces (User 1/User 2).
It is possible, to select different intefaces for User 1 and User 2
(e.g. User 1: serial interface and User 2: parallel interface).
It is also possible to select the same interface for User 1 and User 2. If
so, any changes of the interface settings in menu mode (see Menu, inter-
faces, page 60) for User 1 will be transferred to User 2. In contrast
thereto changes of the interface settings for User 2 will not be trans-
ferred to User 1.
If the parameter “Share User” in Setup mode is set to “Auto” (see
Share User, page 57), the printer will handle print jobs for User 1 and
User 2 automatically. (E.g. if a print job for User 2 interface is received
the printer switches to User 2 and starts printing after a paper has been
inserted.) If it is set to “Manual” after receiving a print job for User 1
or User 2 the respective USER 1 or USER 2 key must be pressed to
start the printout.
