1 Preparing the Installation
Overview This chapter provides you with the information required to:
■ know the regulations regarding the installation of mobile radios
■ provide the tools required for installation
■ choose the appropriate installation configuration
1.1 Regulations
MPT 1362 Code of Practice Tait Electronics recommend that mobile radios be installed in accordance
with the MPT 1362 Code of Practice.
Vehicle Manufacturer’s Installation
Instructions
Follow your vehicle manufacturer’s instructions on the installation of mobile
radios. For more information refer to the vehicle manufacturer’s website or
contact the vehicle manufacturer’s dealer.
1.2 Installation Tools
The following tools are required for the installation of the radio:
■ drill and drill bits
■ Pozidriv screwdriver
■ 5/16 inch (8mm) socket (or Pozidriv screwdriver)
■ RF connector crimp tool
■ fuse crimp tool
■ in-line RF power meter capable of measuring forward and reflected
power at the operating frequency of the radio
