Using the Lookup Feature
The Lookup feature lets you search for meanings of a language term in the following
dictionaries:
• SYSTRAN Main Dictionary
• SYSTRAN Specialized Dictionaries
• User Dictionaries (UD)
• Additional Dictionaries: depending on the product you have installed and the
selected language pair, you may also have access to third-party electronic
dictionaries on your PC.
When you perform a lookup on a term, the software looks for it in the selected
language pair dictionaries as well as the reverse language pair dictionaries.
This allows you to use the Lookup tool as a translation assistant to provide
several meanings for source terms or, when revising a translation, to verify
that the meaning proposed by SYSTRAN corresponds with the meaning in the
source text.
Looking up a Term in Microsoft Office
To look up a term in a Microsoft Office application (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook),
enter it in the box on the SYSTRAN Toolbar and then press Enter. A
list of meanings is displayed in the Lookup tab of the expanded Translation Toolbar.
