A Tour of SYSTRAN Enterprise Server 7 -
Application Packs
You can perform many translation tasks with the SYSTRAN Enterprise Server 7 Application
Packs.
Available in both User Tools and Expert Tools, the SYSTRAN Translation Toolbar provides
you with an integral tool with which you can:
• Translate input text
• Look up a term in SYSTRAN’s dictionaries or user defined dictionaries
It also allows you to translate selected text in any Windows application.
With the features exclusive to the User Tools, you can:
• Translate text in Microsoft Office
• Translate web pages in Internet Explorer and Firefox
• Translate entire files
Expert Tools allow you to:
• Create, manage, and edit user-defined dictionaries
• Create and manage translation projects
Local or Remote Translation Resources
With SYSTRAN 7 Application Packs you can perform translations on a SYSTRAN Enterprise
Server running on your network. You can also share translation resources, such as
translation profiles, User Dictionaries, Larousse dictionaries, and general or specialized
terminologies (such as Computer Science, Automotive…).In addition, SYSTRAN User Tools
Plus and SYSTRAN Expert Tools Plus allow you to run translation services on your PC, and
to leverage any local translation resources available.
SYSTRAN 7 Application Packs users can toggle between Local mode and Remote
mode via the SYSTRAN Global Options dialog. Consequently, you can opt to work
offline or connected to the SYSTRAN server.
The language pairs available when translating are determined by the product installation or
the configuration of the SYSTRAN server, depending on whether the user is working in local
or remote mode. As such, translations made locally with a server language pair (or vice-
versa) will result in an error message.
The Role of Profiles
Profiles allow you to select your own sets of preferred options for use with SYSTRAN 7
products, and thereafter when you select a Profile all options associated to it are set for use
in your translations.
