52 User Interface Guide: SYSTRAN Online Tools and Application Packs
SYSTRAN Expert Tools
SYSTRAN Expert Tools provide robust capability for planning, managing and
completing translation projects, and for improving the quality of your results with each
new project you complete.
SYSTRAN Translation Project Manager (STPM) helps you work with, edit, and
enhance your translations. You can define options, review terminology, use
Translation Memory, and interact with the SYSTRAN Dictionary Manager to build
and modify your translation dictionaries. Powerful tools are also built into this
application to support your regression testing and QA efforts.
SYSTRAN Dictionary Manager (SDM) lets you build, create, and maintain User
Dictionaries (UDs), Translation Memories (TMs), and Normalization Dictionaries
(NDs), which can be used to customize your translations to your unique
terminology and requirements.
SYSTRAN MultiTranslate Utility (SMTU) is designed for users who perform a
large number of translations. Using SMTU, you can place documents into groups
(or batches) and translate them in one operation.
Upgrading from SYSTRAN Enterprise Global Server 4.0 Client
Software
The SYSTRAN Enterprise Global Server 5.0 software has been designed to maintain
compatibility with SYSTRAN 4.0 Application Packs. You can therefore upgrade to
SYSTRAN Enterprise Global Server 5.0 without immediately updating your other
existing SYSTRAN client installations.
Dictionaries and SYSTRAN Dictionary Manager 4.0
When a dictionary is uploaded from SYSTRAN Dictionary Manager 4.0 to SYSTRAN
Enterprise Global Server 5.0, it is converted to a version 5 dictionary on the server.
After uploading the dictionary, you will need to mark the dictionary as Public using the
Dictionary Administration page in the SYSTRAN Enterprise Global Server 5.0 Web
interface.
The ability to use Non-public dictionaries is a new feature available in
SYSTRAN Enterprise Global Server 5.0. If you are working with SYSTRAN
Translation Project Manager (STPM) 4.0 and want to use a dictionary created in
version 5, you must set the dictionary to Public in order to display it in STPM version
4.0.
