I.4 Installation pipes for water hot and chilled, valves and drains
I.4.1 Description
If ordered with the unit, the valves and valve motors are stored in a carton box placed inside the unit. Water trap(s)
standard or optional - is (are) necessary to ensure escape of water from the tray under plate heat exchanger and (or)
cooling coil. Water trap(s) is (are) stored in a carton box placed inside the unit.
I.4.2 Pipe connections
Connection pipes on heating- and cooling coils are provided with external thread. Drainage outlets on drip trays are pro-
vided with straight pipe for quick connect fittings on the pipe with the water trap.
I.4.3 Pipes and cables must not obstruct opening of doors and extraction of components
from the unit
Pipes and cables must not obstruct the opening of inspection doors and extraction of some components. Potential com-
ponents for extraction are filters, fans and rotary heat exchanger.
Even heating coil and cooling coil with or without droplet limiter are potential for extraction if sufficient space for clean-
ing is not available due to no inspection sections before and/or after the coils.
I.4.4 Pipe connections to coils that must be extracted for cleaning
If the designers and/or users have decided and defined in the tender that the coil with or without droplet limiter must
be extracted for cleaning, the removal of pipes can be made by the installer in the below illustrated way.
Note:
Important to check in tender/order that the designers and/or users have defined that coil/coils as well as
droplet limiter must be extracted for cleaning.
1. Install union fittings on inlet pipe and return pipe.
2. Install 2 valves on inlet pipe and 2 valves on return pipe with one set of valves for closing of the water from the sup-
ply system and one set of valves for closing of the water in the coil.
3. Check that it is easy to separate the pipes and to extract the coil with or without droplet limiter for cleaning.
4. In case of cleaning the coil before commissioning of the air handling unit, cleaning is only allowed with an brush at-
tachment to the hose of a vacuum cleaner or with non-pressurized water if needed with assistance of a detergent
spray that is not corrosive to the coil fins of aluminium.
The above mentioned valves and union fittings are not delivered by Systemair.
I.4.4.1 Heating coils
Pipes for hot water must be protected by insulation against frost and loss of heat. Further protection against frost can
be obtained by installing electrical heating wires around the pipes and under the insulation combined with temperature
sensors and a control system. Pipes, insulation, electrical heating wires, control system for heating wires and circulation
pump are not delivered by Systemair.
