To ensure achievement of the characteristic, it is necessary for an even and irrotational ow to be available at
the inlet.
This is achieved in free intake by the addition of an admission nozzle or a stretch of channel with a length of
no less than 2.5 x D.
If this is not possible for construction reasons, a deector with bafe sheets arranged in front of the fan must
be optimised in its ow engineering properties in such a way that an even distribution of speed is achieved at
the fan inlet.
On the pressure side, a channel or tube with a length of no less than 2.5 x D is to be provided in order to
achieve the characteristic.
Contact with rotating parts must be ruled out at all times – either by channels of a corresponding length or by
protective grids.
