8.4 Motor Controls
◊ Each fan contains two EC motors that have their own wire leads landed in the electrical box of the fan.
Each fan type is speed controlled differently.
The IV Smart EC fan is controlled via an analog PWM or 0-10V signal.
The IV Smart EC Modbus is controlled by digital Modbus communications. Each motor must be individually addressed on the job site.
Each motor in the fan (quantity 2 per fan) comes with a default Modbus address of “1” from the factory. Accessories are offered to
enable enhanced communication methods such as BACnet communication for the Modbus fan.
8.5 Field Connections
Check that the data on the nameplate matches the connection data.
Complete the electrical connection according to the connection diagram.
◊ Lay the connection cables in the terminal box in such a way that allows the cover of the terminal box to be closed without resistance.
◊ Screw the lid of the terminal box to 18 Inch-Lbs.
Connect the cable ends in a dry environment.
8.5.1 IV Smart EC Connection Diagram
All connections shall be made using the supplied quick connect lever-action or push-to-connect terminals. The left side of the below
image is the eld wiring side.
Line voltage (L1, L2, Ground):
• Field power connections are to be made in the electrical box
The grounding terminal is electrically connected to the unit through the DIN rail.
Control voltage (1-3):
The speed can be adjusted by the input signals labeled ‘control voltage’.
Speed reference connection:
The fan RPM may be monitored through the speed reference signal labeled ‘TACH OUTPUT.
TACH OUTPUT Signal: open collector, 1 pulse per revolution, lsink max = 10 mA, SELV.
